What’s new?
On January 20, 2025, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) received a proposal from France for a new harmonised classification and labelling for Resorcinol (CAS 108-46-3), including a classification as Endocrine Disruptor for human health and a code EUH380 (May cause endocrine disruption in humans).
Resorcinol is used in cosmetic products as an antioxidant, denaturant, hair dyeing and perfuming agent and is currently restricted in Annex III/22 to the EU Cosmetics Regulation (EC) No. 1223/2009.
This is the second time that France has submitted a dossier to classify Resorcinol as an endocrine disruptor for human health.
What now?
The proposal is open for comments until March 21 2025.
