What’s new?

On May 23, 2023, the European Union (EU) published the new Regulation (EU) 2023/988 on General Product Safety (GPSR) in the Official Journal of the European Union. This regulation will impact most economic operators (manufacturers, importers, distributors, fulfilment service providers, etc.) in the EU market.

Since December 13, 2024, the GPSR has been applicable in all EU Member States, as announced in our previous article.

Not all the provisions of the GPSR apply to cosmetic products. As cosmetic products are regulated under the Cosmetic Products Regulation (CPR) which dictates specific safety requirements, the GPSR applies only to those aspects and risks which are not covered by those requirements.
